It’s been a while and I’ve practiced A LOT. Who knew I would have made so much progress since January. I wouldn’t say it is a big accomplishment but I can play a couple of songs by Lana Del Ray and Marina And The Diamonds. I feel like I’m gonna get laughed at for saying that but I admire their music. BUT at this moment I’m taking on the challenge of stepping up a level. If you have any recommendations for beginner songs please let me know. ALSO! I’ve decide to look into a new guitar. I have an extremely tight budget though so if you have any recommendations for a great, yet cheap brand of guitar I should look into let me know as well! I’m trying to get one by the end of May and who knows maybe eventually I’ll get that Synyster Custom I’ve been wanting later on. Thank you all so much for motivating me. It means a lot to me. You have no idea how much I appreciate and love you all for listening and helping me out even though I don’t know any of you lol. Once again thank you!

AWESOME! It’s super-motivating when you get rewarded for your hard work. BE PROUD!
Lower end Ibanez and Schecter guitars are generally good quality assembly-line instruments, and they tend to be affordable. If you provide a budget range and what your musical goals are, we can make some more specific recommendations.
Oh, and this place is like Olive Garden – when you’re here, you’re family. Speak up and ask away!

there is nothing wrong with seeing other genres of music on the contrary, I was totally connected to rock and I saw some syn and zacky interviews until the matt talking about other styles and speaking to open the mind in search of other musical genres and that’s what I did, I listen to Lana Del Rey MGK Litlle Mix so listen to other guys and do not be ashamed of several amazing harmonies that you can mix in your creations that come from other styles
I suggest The Beatles that to me it appears that all the rock left there
We are always with you, never hesitate to ask or express yourself here.

I’ve never played a bad Schecter guitar. Even at the more inexpensive level. I’d say they’re your best bet. As far as songs, some of the songs I learned when I was starting off were stuff like Godzilla and Burnin for You by Blue Oyster Cult and some Aerosmith riffs like Walk This Way and Train Kept a Rollin’. Also Black Sabbath and Green Day are generally regarded as easy to learn for beginners, and most importantly they’ll get you really good with power chords which are essential to early rock or rhythm playing.

That’s so cool!! I have a few recommendations for songs:
Video games by Lana is good to practice barre chords (if it’s your first song with many barre chords let me warn you: your hands are gonna hurt, so take breaks often.)
    chords : https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/lana_del_rey/video_games_chords_1095327
Unintended by Muse is good to practice …I don’t know how to call this = playing a chord string by string and it sounds nice… I think it’s called an arpeggio but I’m not sure… if you want listen to the audio and you’ll understand what I mean. It’s one of the first songs I learned, it’s easy and it sounds nice. Advice, don’t try to make it sound like the original right away, try getting comfortable with the chords first (there’s a B7 I don’t know if you’re familiar with this chords, when I started playing guitar this chord was a bit tricky for me) so that’s why I advice you to just try and play the chords normally first so you can play them fluently and then try to decompose them like they do in the original song.
    Audio : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJDAmXHHfuM
    chords : https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/muse/unintended_chords_983749
(the outro chords are a bit weird, I don’t do those, I changed them for Am, D7, F, E instead it’s more simple and sound just as nice)
Keep going I believe in you 😀
And just like Ed said, feel free to ask any questions

Nice to see you Kallie, and great work! I absolutely LOVE Lana. Born to Die is in my top ten favorite albums of all time! I had the great fortune of meeting her and what an amazing person she is. She was so down to earth and humble. Never be ashamed of any music you like. I’d be way more ashamed if I didn’t give something a chance just because some asshole didn’t think it was cool:)
I second Ed lol, welcome to Olive Garden!

I listen to pop artists like Bruno Mars, Kesha.. Lorde. Good music is good music. Eminem.. there’s a reason hes said to be the rap god. I cant stand any other rapper. He paints his picture as well as any artist would with an instrument in his words. Not many rappers can do that. But yeah, even country.. but mine is more 80s 90s country. The good country. I cant stand the shit they have out now. Dont ask me my opinion on Taylor Swift.

Easy songs can be the hits by RHCP, Help, Day Tripper and some other beatles songs, Rolling in the deep by Adele, Seven nation Army, Kryptonite.
Lana Del Rey is pretty cool! Also I second Calvin on Bruno Mars. I love his stuff! Eminem aswell, Beyonce has some pretty cool songs too. Then you have people like Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino which are pretty cool too.
Basically never be ashamed of your taste. Everyone’s taste differs so liking stuff someone else dislikes is completely fine!

Beyonce i haven’t given much of a chance.. i never liked fergie til i heard her play that song with slash… such a rock and roll voice hidden in pop.
Same with kesha.. her original producer was all pop autontone.. but man does that girl got a voice for rock and roll.
