Riff Page and Update

Hello my dear kittens,

First of all, I want to tell you all how amazed I am about the interaction on here. We're making friends, making music, making history, making jokes.

Some students I've had to issue warnings to, and I want you all to know how much I appreciate the fact that you all have respected my role here. I haven't had any sass back and that makes me feel happy. If I ever start to come off like a tyrant or unfair, please make sure you voice your opinion to me directly. I promise I won't spit acid in your face. I only do that at 5am when I get woken up.

Secondly: While I am amazed at the interaction on the forums and lesson discussions, the riff page is getting about 1% of that attention. Students are kicking ass on their originals, they're trying new things, and even offering guitar tricks and tips. But there's hardly any interaction there. One thing that helped me improve was constructive feedback. If a student can improve on their playing, tell them. After all, we're guitarists. Our playing needs to have as much attention as our questions and our mutual love for Nickelback. Right @Edward John and @Dominik Gräber ?

I'm guilty of this as well. Hell, there's so much content and interaction on here there's no way I can be as active on here as what I use to be. But I finally set time aside to check out the riff section and it saddened me it's not getting as much attention as the forum section.

I'm also happy to say that the etudes for the beginners are coming along great and hopefully the beginners get excited about them!

All in all...
Go kick ass

Let's have the Riff section get as much Love as the 'Back!
I would Love to See Not only more Interactions with posted Riffs but more Riffs in General. You really only See a hand full of people Posting and mostly the Same.
It's such a valuable place to get experience and feedback. So hopefully we can give it a bigger role in the school.

There's a member of the school who asks me a lot of questions on Instagram. I told him a couple times to record himself playing and post it on the riff page but he is afraid he isn't good enough and he really wants to impress Syn so he doesn't want to do it.

I think that counts for a lot of people, just not having the confidence in their own playing to share it.

That is true and so unneccessary. In fact this is why the Riff section exists. That's probably the only place in earth where you can Show what you can without any fear of negative comments.

It's a shame that having a beginner section didn't help many people get Into it.

To be honest this is getting old. If more beginners posted other beginners would see everyone starts somewhere. Syn doesn't give a shit. He's mentioned numerous times he loves beginners and he's commented on people's videos where they're just naming the strings. If they would actually engage HERE they would know that. I get the same stuff on Instagram too and I tell them "It gets to a point where it's not a reason it's an excuse." Syn didn't invent this school so thousands of mindless legions could impress him. He did it so people could get better with guitar and make friends.

Tell me about it. To be Frank I'm over hearing excuses. I heard so many people upset they felt they couldn't put their riffs up because of all the shredders. I have made forum sections and the riff page like you said and it's practically collecting dust. Mounds of gold to those who have taken use of it. I have been spending a lot of time working on beginner etudes and I'm going to be spending more time recording them today. This is because people were upset that they said that the etudes were too difficult. If some of these beginners don't take those into account like I said it ends up becoming excuses at some point. You can't spoon-feed people and sometimes it seems like that's what people want

Tbh I think people telling themselves that the etudes are too hard are already making excuses. If you could Play the etudes already there would be No need to learn them. I can't shred through Alternate I at all but it is a great exercise that will get your hands ready for so many Other Things.
