Schecter Syn Custom NT

Hi,

I’m completely new to the Synner forum. A very good friend of mine has just given me his Synyster Gates guitar. I have never seen a version like this before and am struggling to find anything about it! It is a ‘Syn Custom NT’ and has a tuneomatic bridge, string thru body, a set neck and Seymour Duncan pickups.
Can anyone tell me about it? Apparently only 10 of them ended up in England, hence the ‘5’ on the cavity plate written in red sharpie. Thanks, Red.

This is definitely something rare. I'm not even sure if these were ever mass produced. My best guess would be that these were a very limited release or that these were prototypes.

All said and done, if it's all legit, that's definitely a keeper!

That's the model from the Making the Self Titled album. You can also see it (Or an Alt model hard tale) In the Burn Halo - Dirty Little Girl music video during his solo. If I remember correctly He uses this exact model in the beginning of the Making of Hail To The King video.
But otherwise that is super cool!

Thank you both for that. I absolutely love it, the ebony fretboard looks and feels beautiful. I've always been a hardtail player as I can't be trusted with a Floyd Rose, inappropriate dive bombs ruining songs at every oppurtunity! I've got it stripped down for a real deep clean, fret level, crown and polish etc so will see how it is when I've finished with it. I'll check out the videos you mentioned.

The set neck means its one piece? Do those have truss rods?

Not necessarily one piece and every electric guitar requires a truss rod or the neck will be bent enough to shoot arrows before long.

Yeah it’s got a truss rod as mentioned above. I would imagine the NT stands for ‘neck through’ but I can’t tell whether it is that or just a regular set neck.

All cleaned up now, looking and more importantly sounding and playing great!!!

It's possible (probable) that it's a neck-through, but it would not be possible to be certain without either confirmation from Schecter or an afternoon with some sandpaper. If it's a set neck with that heel, it wouldn't matter anyway - it would absolutely FEEL like a neck-through.
