I just posted my take on the Seize the Day solo to my Instagram #metalminute hashtag. I had to put the new Air Norton S humbucker I dropped in the neck position yesterday to the test. AWESOME sounding!
YES. DO IT. Do it however you want! Somewhere, someone will get something out of it. I’ve seen several dozen students play this or want to learn it so I’m sure someone will find it useful. Plus your playing has improved so much that I want to see what you got to teach!
Nice work Ed, new toy sounds great!
I would check out the video, it’s a really nice solo in that song.
Also, funny you should mention the #metalminute videos, I was watching a few at work last night and thought ‘I need to get off my ass and put a few up’. Will get on to it.
Kim you are totally able to do this! This is a great goal to start with. Any goal is a great goal to start with. Don’t forget my grueling 2 year-long process with Hail to the King! That 2 years of trial and error lead me to be able to figure out other solos within weeks that solo was supposedly “too hard for me” but everything is hard in the beginning. Matt as well do something hard that you really love just try if you want to!
@kim – when I said a “Jak-style lesson,” I mean covering the techniques one needs to develop in order to play this before getting into actually playing it. Once I get it done, there will be tutorials about slides, vibrato (mechanics and feel), long bends, starter sweeps, finger rolls, and more.
