Basically ive been learning the solo for a few weeks now.. Ive been playing guitar for 15 years but had a few years off until july last year.. Need some tips or advice on getting the string skipping down.. Its driving me mad. Ive tried changing it to arpeggios and tried transposing it into different shapes but still cant seem to get it.. Been doing skipping exercises, speed exercises and everything just worried my hands have lost their memory and im incapable :/
Am i just rusty and lost my shred after having a few years away?
Cheers in advance…

No, you are not rusty and you have not lost your shred. For the shred is always found within and never leaves.
Ok enough with all that could you give me a time stamp? Because there is a spot in the solo that people make WAY HARDER than what it needs to be.

I either have been playing it wrong or am just incredibly confused. From the top of my mind there is not string skipping in that solo so, if you could give a timestamp I can feel ashamed for playing it wrong for so many years.

Syn plays that part with a string skip but you can get away with sweeping it since it is pretty close to a Dm7 arpeggio followed by a Dm7Sus4 arpeggio(a Dm7 where the minor third is substituted by a 4th). You can play these by sweeping or by string skipping if you want too. I’m 652 miles away from my guitar right now so I can’t really check whether sweeping it is a nice way to do it I think I usually just do Dm arpeggios there (yes I kinda wing my solos most of the time)
