Shepherd of Fire Solo question

Hello Everyone and Syn!
I wanted to ask what you guys know about Syn’s tone for that epic solo. Also, if he used his sustainiac, does anyone know the settings on the guitar switches for it. I’m trying to get as close as possible to his tone because it is just too good not to use for a cover of this solo!

I think I have a really close tone to his. In my opinion. But if you want to get close. I would work a lot with the mids and treble. Not too much bass. You want it crunchy. Not muddy. Tbh I worked my tone around his solo tone in So Far Away. And it works for just about lead tone.

If it’s Sustainiac it won’t be any of the harmonic settings. I usely work with lots of mids and I read somewhere that Syn also uses more mids and not that much gain but not sure.

I don’t think he used the sustainiac on that solo, pretty sure it was all the bridge invader into his hellwin head. Possibly an overdrive in front of the head, but I don’t think so considering the pick attack. Overdrive smooth things out and it doesnt sound quite like that sound. Not that its rough sounding or anything, but there is a bit more definition to the notes. What is your amp setup?

Thanks for the replies guys! I’m using Bias FX with some cranked mids and lower gain to match Syn’s tone and I guess I can say I got very close according to EQ settings. It’s just that I feel like I’m missing that pick attack sound that the solo explodes because of. I’m not sure if it’s something I have to do with my right hand or if it’s something I can do from the amp.

You can probably dig in more with your pick and get more dynamic. Also different picks can change the sound a bit.
If you recorded and posted some of what you’re talking about, we could give more accurate answers.

Okay so this is what I ended up coming up with eventually. I don’t think it’s perfect but it was the closest I could get. Let me know what you guys think!

It’s hard to say because I dont know the nature of Bias, but one thing I would say is to raise the treble and presence to get more bite on the notes, turn the bass down a bit, turn the level up on your solo track, and finally put an overdrive in front of the amp with the level up to 6 or so and the drive at 1 or 2. It’s good to have the gain down on an amp for clarity, but you still want you leads to scream. Make those changes, record it again and we can see what it sounds like and if we can make it better!
