Short-Term Goals vs. Long-Term Goals

Hey guys! You know my life with y’all is practically an open book because anytime I have a breakthrough I like to share it with you guys. I posted this on my instagram, but for those of you who don’t follow me there I thought it was best to put it here, too. I’ve struggled a lot with time management and feeling overwhelmed. And ever since I adopted this new mindframe, I’ve felt more productive and EVERYTHING in my life has been fun and less stressful. Maybe you can take something from this It applies drastically to my guitar work and boy, I have felt so much better.
Love you guys to death. Let me know what you think

Love this Jak! I usually balance pretty well between the two, but I have noticed in the last 6 months that my short terms goals induce a lot of stress, which is detrimental to my productivity in general.
It’s also very important to set attainable and realistic goals, that took me a really long time to learn.
I am now setting long term goals, and my short term goals are the steps to get there, I also use “the shelf”, which is a technique to lower stress caused by short term goals.
Basically you set your goal, work towards it and once you reached the daily amount of time you can dedicate to that goal, you put it on the shelf and don’t think about it until the time comes again.
Otherwise, I’ve spent many sleepless nights worrying about not meeting goals in time or having too much to do etc.

I’ve realised along the way.
That sometimes , life just happens and
I shouldn’t be so rigid .
I used to think that I was a long term goal thinker eg. I had to get this done *insert cliche objective * by this age and that objective was postponed year after year. And then it turns out I dont really care anymore.
Because if there’s anything I learnt from music and movies : is that you cant scientifically sit down and write a legendary piece of art . Like life – it happens and then it doesn’t.
