I see that some of you are confused so I will reiterate the contest: yes you can only use the 6 notes.The entire point is to give all of you the exact same basis. To give you a pattern that everyone can do, beginner and advance alike, which you can simply focus on and see how creative you can be with only those 6 notes. Basically restraining you and therefore challenging your creative minds to see how much you can do with very little.If you watch the lesson, you can see that PG shows the 6 note pattern which starts on the 5th fret of the 5th string right up to the 7th fret of the 3rd string. And then he proceeds to play a solo entirely formed of those 6 magical notes. (see: solo 1)No octaves allowed!!
