Truthfully I never use my pinky either. It’s probably because he has such huge hands he doesn’t need to. Normally whenever you play a power chord with your 1st and Ring finger, it enables you to do other stuff with your pinky should you need to. I actually demonstrated an original riff using this kind of technique to Hector the other night. Were you in there when I demonstrated that?

Syn follows very strict “one finger per fret” except when he has to stretch. The power chord is really just a single note (or three string barre) at position 1, and a 2 string barre at position 3, and that’s if you include the octave – some strictly believe the “power chord” is ONLY root and fifth.
When I started, I used that, but at some point, with my short sausage fingers, I discovered on the lower frets that it was just easier to use index and pinky only, and so most of the time, that’s what I do. Doesn’t change the sound, even though *technically* it’s probably poor form.

I can’t wait to get the live from Hector if he uploads it cause I missed SO MUCH. I was counting on being awake late and practicing so I could watch it but I fell asleep and only caught the last 30 minutes. After seeing you and Hector go back and forth on Jak’s livestream I can’t wait to see what ideas they came up with!
