SONGWRITING CHALLENGE

Hi guys!
I started a Songwriting Challenge on my Instagram this week.
Some members of the school have already joined me, I just wanted to extend an invitation to whomever wants to join.
This challenge focuses on the basics of song structure, and the goal is to finish your songs in a short period of time by not overthinking your ideas.
There are going to be many follow up challenges for every step of the creative process, so the invitation is open any time.

If anything I’d love to see the stuff everyone comes up with. I’d do it myself but I am constantly writing stuff on a weekly basis already. And I cant really give those riffs out yet til they are complete. Lol

Ok So here’s my song. It was obviously inspired by Stranger Things but I gotta say it wasn’t an easy task to do. I did the intro and the verse pretty easily but then I got stuck on the pre chorus and the chorus and I couldn’t come up with anything so I decided to shorten the first verse to only 8 bars and remove the pre chorus and only have chorus. For the chorus I just put the other 8 bars of the verse because to me that sounded like the main part (when the bass comes) and I was running out of time so I had to do something. That’s why it might sound like the whole song is repeating but I did come up with a different bridge and last chorus so I think that there are parts of the song that will keep you interested. It was also pretty hard to do this with only 4 instruments because I like to use a bunch of different intruments that fill the empty spaces but i managed to do it somehow . All in all I’m happy how the song turned out (yes there are a lot of things that i could’ve done better but in such a short time it was pretty hard). Tell me what you guys think

I only have one thing to say about your song dude. I wanna hear it on your guitar. Not that it’s bad but I think if you played it out youd figure out where you wanna take it. Unless you already did and made it electronic. I could see that too. But if you made it there first nothing wrong with that (my first 11 songs were literally written on guitar pro 5.). I enjoyed them much more when I actually learned them kn guitar tho. And the solos sound more realistic then before.

If I didn’t have to post videos on YouTube and Vimeo, and I was able to record directly to here I’d post a lot, hopefully I can get a laptop in the near future so I can do thing properly and share my riffs and feels, I’d be interested to see the variety of ideas from people maybe jamming along to my riffs
