Strange Experience I made

So I noticed when playing distorted and with much gain, that I can achieve a sustaining tone at the 12th fret even AFTER I removed my finger from the fretboard (I think it was on the b string). And it wasn’t a different tone like a harmonic, it just sustained.
Any ideas why? Maybe just a technique I don’t know? Or has it something to do with my setup/equipment? I’m curious

This really sounds like feedback to me. Maybe feedback is at the same frequency as the 12th fret of the B-string.

play a note and let it ring and then go close to your amp with your pickups and you’ll get feedback
