I find that both of my hands can move with pretty good speed. But I run out of stamina or become sloppy sounding when moving faster. What types of exercises do you guys use to improve this?
I’ve tried the metronome thing and haven’t noticed a lot of progress. I still use it, but am searching for something more to take me to the next level.
Are you alternate licking everything? Because in that case practicing partitia in dm by Paul Gilbert is a great exercise. It’s incredibly hard because bach and all that, but just playing halve of it could improve stamina and synchronization. At least it did for me
I do a lot of alternate picking. One thing that’s been helping me lately is to start on a downstroke instead of the up. But I’ll definitley check out that Paul Gilbert song. Never heard it before I don’t think
That paul gilbert song is originally by Bach try to not be discouraged if you dont get ot immediately. It is really hard. Another thing you could try and do is check out the exercises that are on here. You could also try these:
I got tired a few months ago of my level of synchronization, so I took a fairly simple alternate picking exercise, and I committed to doing it at a PAINFULLY SLOOOOOOW speed every day for like six weeks. Just 5 minutes a day, in addition to my normal practice and warmup routine. It made a huge difference. After I get going with this new band, I’m going to do something similar again.
Thanks for the tips guys! I struggle with the painfully slow stuff…. is so painful! But I feel this is the answer to my issue. I just need more discipline. I always want to speed up or start noodling lol
