@chris, I did do the change (and then later undid it) on my red Ibanez. I did NOT have to change out the 1/4 jack. Everything else you’ve said is true though.
Also heard great things about the Fishman’s (Fishmen?) but haven’t tried them.
My local guitar center has had a Syn Custom with his pickup on the display wall for over a month now. I was really excited to finally get hands-on with the pickup and try it out. But, lo and behold, the wiring to the pickup is completely shot. Makes zero noise. I was disappointed and told the tech about it. 6 weeks later the guitar is still there and the pickup wiring is still dead. I can’t possibly imagine why they haven’t sold it yet.
Okey guys, so..say i have been looking on the schecter hellraiser c1 fr sustainiac. they come with active emg pickups in the bridge.
So it would not be worth the hassle changing my bridge pickup only for the syns or the invader?
Guess that leaves me with an active (sustainiac) and a passive bridge but how does that correspond?
You can have a passive bridge and an active neck pickup(Syn has that too). I have no idea how the wiring works when you do so but saying it is not worth the hassle I’m not sure. Personally I prefer passive pickups so I generally don’t buy guitars with active pickups in it.
This one has a passive pickup in the bridge https://m.thomann.de/nl/schecter_hellraiser_passive_c1_fr_s_bch.htm?o=23&search=1540469720
But it all depends on what you prefer.
Yeah i thought syn did too, but the question is if it’s worth it while not getting his signature
Also, i didn’t knew it came in passive so thanks! takes the work before mentioned in this channel!
I would definitely say to switch out the EMG for syn’s pickup. I dont think EMGs are that great and active pickups in generally arent very versatile. They do 1 tone good and that’s it. Syns pickup is phenomenal and has a tightness and tone I havent heard in other pickups. Highly recommended.
