This tour manager took Shadows' statement about tour bus costs being up $2 million over their last tour, and broke it down and investigated a little during a livestream. It's fascinating, and gives a little more insight into what it takes for a band like Avenged to hit the road for six months.

There was also a band that toured with avenged and said they made net profit of $400 each. Shout out to the smaller bands trying to tour these days as well

Mhm indeed, that’s outrageous, but imagine trying to by the tour bus for your band, my mom can’t even find me a car that’s at a decent price

Buying doesn't make sense. Typically, you'd be looking at using it for six months out of every three years or so, and paying to store, register, insure and maintain it for the rest. Then there's the bit about a headlining band having to bring their own stage, PA, lighting and gear everywhere, and that's why you're looking at probably ~15 trucks plus band and crew buses.
