Theory has always been a weak point of mine and still is but lately it has all been coming together, my understanding of barre chords is a lot better and I now now how to play all types of 7th chords (maj7, min7 and dim7) and I can play them, with referring to a sheet for now in positions on the low E and A strings, it feels amazing to know all of this and its nice to know that it is getting easier.

DAN! That is so awesome! I know that you did some theory threads on here and they were really good. I believe that was you, right? So tell me, what’s been the biggest breakthrough that made it all start syncing? For other students who may be struggling, was there a practice method or concept that helped you learn? Also, I’d love to see a video of you doing these awesome chords! Maybe you could pick a cover song that includes these kinds of chords and play it for us Great work!

I think it was the way my teacher explained it, as soon as I realised what all the 7th, 9th and things meant it was a lot easier to be able to make the links and know what notes I had to change or remove.Barre chords were something that I knew for a while but it was just repetition.
A ground breaker for me was realising that when there is a chord such as an add11 it is referring to using notes in the second octave of the scale.
