What did you listen to ten years ago?

Lol! You big metal heads! As a teen I wasn't into metal all that much, I liked a few songs or a few bands here and there but it really wasn't my thing. My metal phase came in adulthood, which is rare

Let's see, 10 years ago... Guns N' Roses for sure, I was obsessed back then.
That was also the year when Slash released his first solo album, so that one was on pretty regular rotation.
Evanescence, Tarja (her solo work after Nightwish), Kerli, I was also a massive fan of a german band called Tokio Hotel.
Epica, I believe this was also the year I discovered Björk.
And Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera too. #yaaasgaga
Oh! and Mozart! How could I forget? Sonata K.545 was my jam!

That first solo record of Slash's is killer! A lot of great songs and some awesome special appearances including M Shadows! It's been a while since I've listened through it but damn was it good!

Oh my god tokio hotel!! I was a huge fan of them when I was little There still really good to this day but there newer stuff is horrible in my opinion. I’ve also been debating on covering monsoon!

Whew. 2010. I was 40. It was the busiest year of my life at work. I had a lot of projects, multimillion dollar projects, riding on me. Most weeks were 80-90 hours, but it peaked with one week in June or July working between 125 and 130 hours. It was absolute hell. For 5 days, I had a hotel room across from the office. I'd go there and nap for 2 hours and then get back to my office for the next "day." Crazy times, but it got me to where I am now, which is a lot more relaxed and a lot more comfortable financially. I spent a lot of my free time unwinding with the one-two movie punch of Kick-Ass and Hot Tub Time Machine, over and over and over. When it came to music, the only newer things I was listening to was Nightmare, the self-titled Mudvayne, and maybe some Shadows Fall and Stone Sour. Not sure if I'd discovered Periphery yet.

Jesus christ. That sounds like hell with some extra shitty sprinkles on top of it. I know 70+ hour weeks are awful but 100+?! That doesn't sound healthy or entirely legal either. I don't mean to pry or be nosy but what generally speaking do you do for work to end up in that sort of shit spot? Glad things are going well for you now Ed but holy crap.

Oh, it wasn't healthy. Cold sweats and a ridiculously high heartbeat set in on me a few times in that job. I had some "days" that started at 6am Wednesday and didn't end until 11pm Thursday - literally non-stop. You start seeing things, blacking out for micro-sleeps. It's really bad for you, but I knew it was a means to an end.

It's not illegal in the US, at least.

IT Management of Production Support teams at Wells Fargo is what I do. I've been in management for 12 years, so you only get paid for 40 hours, but "the job is the job" and sometimes I get to sit on my ass and play guitar while I work from home (now) and other times, you're killing yourself to get by. At the time of the evilness, I was managing application support for our Health Benefits division, if you like that irony!

Those who survive and thrive at that level, get to climb higher up, where it's easier and the pay is better. Now, like I said (with the same company), I get to work from home, mostly have normal hours, and my breaks in those hours are cooking for myself, helping my son with homework, playing guitar and riding my bicycle (heart health!). I've got it REALLY good now, and I wouldn't if I hadn't suffered through six levels of hell ten years ago.

Hmm my memory fails me in these moments. 11-12. I don't think I really listened to music Back then. Sure Dad played his Songs on in the Car. Pink, Katy Perry, Michael Jackson, A-ha, Sometimes AC/DC. But it wasn't Like I was drawn to music at all.

Can't Tell you when it happened but at some Point I really discovered Linkin Park for myself. I found Hybrid Theory so weird and wasn't Sure If I Like it but the next two years then were LP non stop. Every Album, every Song, googling for unofficial Songs and demos. That really paved my Road Into Metal.
One of my best friends introduced me to Stricken by Disturbed and Tears Don't Fall by Bullet for my Valentine. Holy Shit. That changed my world. He was also the one to drag me to my First proper Concert in 2015.

Funny Thing is. I knew Avenged Sevenfold before that because I secretly played Call of Duty at another friends and A7x's Shepherd of Fire was the Theme Song for the Zombies Trailer then. But it took a couple of more years before I actually rediscovered them when I really got Into music.

I think if you are a die-hard consultant you have to work that much. Most of those are also filthy rich and on cocaine but Somehow a lot of the high level business people work that much.

I think my uncle also has weeks like that but as far as I know he isn't on cocaine

I have never even tried marijuana. I think I may have SEEN cocaine once in my life (in the bathroom of a shithole rock bar in Newark, NJ). Investment bankers are like that. No, I went straight.

I wasn't even listening to music ten years ago, like, at all When I started to (it was like five years ago), I was listening to a lot of The Offspring, Sum 41, Bring Me The Horizon and Green Day. Oh, yeah, and Hollwyood Undead, it was my favorite band.

In the early 2010s I was listening to a lot of Rise Against. They were my go-to band for anything . I also listened to a lot of Story of the Year. Green Day was on my playlist as well back then, along with a bunch of 90s, 80s and 70s songs. Also, I listened to Death Magnetic by Metallica a lot (people hated that album and to this day I still don't understand why).

Same here, I enjoy listening to Death Magnetic. Back in 2010, I was obsessed with "Judas Kiss" and I had the chance to listen to that song live
