If it's got any kind of whammy, you're looking at tuning issues like that. Locking nut has nothing to do with it. It's a bridge with pivots and springs.

Any tremolo you find is going to have a floating bridge on it besides I believe the Kahler bridges which is from what I've heard an even bigger pain to deal with. That's how you get you're tremolo effect. If you try going from say E Std to D Std it's going to throw off the tremolo and you'll have to adjust it which isn't something you can really do in a gigging scenario. I just got my first floyd rose equipped Schecter here a week ago today. Retuning it takes a little bit of time and a trick or two but it isn't a nightmare to deal with unless you're onstage and just went 1 1/2 steps down or something which shouldn't ever happen. On the first night of owning the guitar I noticed the owner had it tuned to D Std when he shipped it but with shipping it had gone flat. Tried tuning it with one guys video which felt practically useless which ate up some time. I then found out Ben Eller had a video on it which ended up working perfectly for me. All in all I spent about 50 minutes tuning it. 25 of that was spent watching the other guys somewhat useless to me video on the topic. Now that I know what to do I could probably bring that down to less than 20 minutes. Is it tedious and more time consuming that a hard tail? Yeah. Is it nightmare fuel and painstakingly hard? Nope. Tremolo's are going to take more work than a hardtail. It may take a bit to get used to working on a floyd bridge but its something anyone with a brain can work with once they understand how it works. Don't be scared of a piece of hardware. Personally I've learned that a tremolo or at least a Floyd isn't for me. I wouldn't have learned that if I bought one and started working with it. By the way those AZ guitars are stunning! Everything I've heard about them is that they are fantastic guitars that sound incredible!
Gotcha! Thanks for the insight! And yess thoose AZ guitars are beautiful and when I saw they made a leftie version I lost my shit......very versatile instruments which I love. My Epiphone Les Paul Custom has a coil split and it completely spoiled me...

I can definitely relate to that Filip! I'm in a similar place. One simply can't be good at everything so you have to choose what you want to be great at. I'm also focusing more on music production, on writing more songs and especially finishing them! I still want to play guitar, but I am narrowing down my goals to be more attainable, given the time I have available. I want to get back into singing and playing, that's the one thing I was doing really well at.
Also, share your songs here when you are done! We all would love to check them out!
Dream Guitar wise I ordered and have had mine for a week now and I'm not sure I like it. I found a Schecter E-1 FR S Special Edition in Trans Purple used on Reverb for a great price and ordered it. It arrived and I was amazed at how it looked and felt to play. The neck has a nice satin feel to it and you can just fly all over the place on it. I love how the guitar sounds clean especially the sustainiac! The tricks you can pull with the Sustainiac are fun to mess with and can definitely change a part in a song for better or worse. I've since learned that I don't care for the floyd and how much more caution I have to have about where my picking hand is otherwise my notes may start going sharp or flay depending on placement. The pickups are a lot hotter than I'm used to playing especially in the bridge and that's made the presets I've made on my Katana not sound as good as I have it set for my Ibanez. The body is also just humongous compared to my RG and doesn't sit as well in the classical position which kind of annoys me. I was initially annoyed with the placement of the strap button and thought that it made playing with a strap just so uncomfortable. The strap was twisted and was pushing against me and pushing the top of the guitar away making it seem harder to play both standing and sitting. Turns out that was just user error and I'm just a big ol idiot who put the strap on backwards haha. It fits better now and isn't so bad to play. The body still pushes away from me though which is certainly different than what I'm used to. Dunno. I'll keep it for a month and see how it goes. If I had saved for a bit longer and had the info I have now I'd probably just order an Ibanez FR800 in Matte Black.
Looking forward to seeing Megadeth, Lamb of God, Trivium, and In Flames in November! Got GA tickets and hoping I can get up on the rail like I was for Slayer last November.

Singing and playing! Voice is where I feel most comfortable and since I only have limited time to dedicate to guitar, I want to choose that as my "one thing". The advice Papa Gates gave us about focusing on one thing really resonated with me. I'm working on a song I want to post here soon!
Small question, finish paying?
I'm horrified doing those kinda things, I always kinda go 'if I can't pay it in one go, I don't buy it's that doesn't count for when I want to buy a house or a car but for all the other things it does.
As far as guitar goals, I'm hoping I can stop being hella exhausted when I come home so I can get some more efficient practicing in(gypsy jazz, metal minutes etc.). So much to do but so little time.
Gear I would like are mostly an Axe-fx(I think it has all the amps I really need in one unit which is great!) And a silver sky(they did something cool with those pickups, I think you should get that one @Ed Seith ). Also would like A guitar with a sustainiac and SrV strat. Maybe even more important I kinda need a new MacBook(my MacBook is too laggy to record anything at the moment)
Music I'm looking forward to would be new A7x,PG's blues record and I think John Mayer is recording right now.

And @carlosmqr I'm feeling your pain on trying to find people to jam with. There aren't many people where I am that devote time to things besides drinking. I found one guy who plays guitar but he plays like soft rock and slow, emotional stuff. And sings in a really high voice. I don't think I'm ready for that kind of thing
I'm also going to recommend the Boss Katana. As far as amps go I think they're affordable. Just got one last weekend and the tones you can achieve on it are phenomenal. Every Boss pedal is on the computer. Customizable and I couldn't tell the difference between the digital tone and the DS1 pedal I already have.
I already have my dream guitar, which is a Syn Custom in black and gold. I love it so much. It's my favorite. So I'm just going to continue on working on modifying my strat. It's a Peavy with stock pick-ups so I'm trying to outfit it with EMGs and better tuners, plus a little paint decal.
I think I got too ambitious with my new years post when I said I wanted to learn more songs. The songs I set out to learn this year are way above my skill level so I'm focusing on technique and speed while learning easier things. I spent some time on "Stay" by Post Malone and right now I'm working on Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt". End of the year goal is still to work on Buried Alive.
And @carlosmqr I'm feeling your pain on trying to find people to jam with. There aren't many people where I am that devote time to things besides drinking. I found one guy who plays guitar but he plays like soft rock and slow, emotional stuff. And sings in a really high voice. I don't think I'm ready for that kind of thing

Guitar goals...quite simple, become efficient with my hammer ons and pull offs (currently working on a little riff that incorporates some) and find more time to practice. I hate being worn out all the time and not having the energy, both physically or mentally, to do the things I want.

I love it so far. And the option to upgrade to a 100w seems exciting should I ever get that far.
Also I uploaded last weekend to the beginners corner my redoing of the intro. It's still choppy but I switched from the pick to fingers so I call that a little victory
Dream guitar, i pretty much got it in my explorer! Id love to have a syn signature guitar but im in no rush! As for goals, i want to rehearse so much, and start playing live venues and get my name out there. And of course up my lead playing I just want to play, and step up my songwriting chops. I write my best lyrics when im drinking i also sing, so i need to rehearse that as well. And along the way i want to share my progress with you folks! And the things im looking forward to this year is seeing metallica at louder than life, and going to inkcarceration fest and just jamming out!

Hmm, not really after a dream guitar, but a reasonable 2nd guitar I can set up for heavier tunings, maybe a Schecter string through like an Omen or Demon.
For playing, my main goal is to work on noise control/string muting while improving my scale knowledge and general technique/speed.
