Note that at the speed of the actual song you hear the open string only for a split second. That confused me at first because I tried to make every pull off ring out completely. But you seem to have it down already!

It probably sounds sloppy with distortion because you need to work on muting the strings. You’re doing fast pull offs and skipping from the 5th string to the 4th string, which allows for a lot of extra noise if you aren’t properly muting the strings that aren't being used
I think with hammer on and pull offs it all comes down to feel. I think you can do a pull off but have it sound different then another person's. You just gotta figure out the speed of the pull off and try to get into the spot. Once you're on pace its easy just getting there can be tricky.
