Interesting issue. For most, the hardest barre chord out there is the F Maj on the first fret, and for good reason. That's where people learn to roll that barre index finger, and it's very effective.
Now, part of the reason you're struggling with playing it higher up is that rolling that finger is less natural. The remedy for that, believe it or not, might just be putting a strap on that guitar and standing up.
As it is, you're sitting the guitar on your left leg, which is natural. however, that places the whole guitar several full inches to the right of where it would be if you were standing. Throw a strap on there and stand up and see if it's any easier.
