I was jamming and trying to fit the Chords of my F major progression in different styles. Came up with this riff. It's not my original progression but I am still using most of my chords in there. Especially focused on the Dm and Gm triad. I know @Alicia Willis really likes that minor sound :P
Hell yesss ! This was awesome Dominik and you can tell you’re having fun with it ! It definitely put a smile on my face and put me in a good mood for the day !
You’re kicking ass dude !
This is awesome, dude. And maybe I'm just old school, but you've arranged a bunch of other parts around that riff - you've got the foundations of a song there - much more than just a riff.
I get a solid Trivium vibe from it (not just because of the shirt) and your tone actually sounds kinda djenty to me here. Gonna have that riff in my head for a bit though. NICE!
Thank you guys for the positive feedback! @Filip Tomiša I actually didn't even think about that but that's a great compliment to me! @Ed Seith thank you!! After I wrote it it actually reminded me a bit of The Defiant I wrote the other parts around that riff while practicing so I hope I can actually turn it into a full song at some point!
I have a question for you guys, especially @Jak Angelescu@Ed Seith and @Ids Schiere
I started the blues lessons but had not a lot time to actually play around them yet, but I keep thinking about Motif and how to write one. Would you guys say my riff here has a Motif already? I mean I would consider that first riff pretty melodic and the melody changes in the course of the riff evolving.

My ground rule for anything I consider a melody/motif myself is simply, can you sing it?
Even though this riff sounds absolutely killer! I don't think I'll be able to sing it so not really. It has a motif to a degree but it's not really a melodic motif if you know what I mean.
Think of it like this, would a vocalist do it? Secondly, think about how many badass cool riffs are really singable(most aren't but that doesn't mean it's bad)

Gotcha! And thank you!
I think this might be singable to a certain extend, but I get what you're saying. Might also be because I can't sing or hum melodies well at all
