You gotta be real careful with the Sustainiac height because small adjustments can make noteworthy effects on how it sounds. I encourage playing around with it if you're willing to find good character, but do so carefully.
The average "good" height for a pickup is 5/64ths to 4/64ths of an inch off of the strings. But, adjust from there. Moving them even closer will give you more output, but moving too close adds a ton of mud to the noise. Backing them off adds more clarity, but lowers output. There's a sweet spot that has to do with both the pickup impedance and your preferences - that's where you wanna be.
