Covering a local band's solo in their song The Blood Ritual, learned it all by ear so its definitely not exact but it was fun to do it that way! Shout out to A Scar For The Wicked!

Revelation (Mother Earth) - Ozzy, one of Randy Rhoads best solos in my opinion. The riff before the solo always makes me headbang, some improv at the end. Cheers!

Feature Requests for Synyster Gates School?

Not sure if anyone has already said this but i just thought about it and thought id put it out there. I think itd be cool to add a tuner function to the page, something like what fender has at the top of their website. I think itd be pretty useful and itd be very accessible to everyone if it...

    Writing a metal song

To add to what others were saying about playimg with a backing track – not sure what kind of metal youre going for but its in the feel. For example if youre going for pantera-style riff/song try playing your guitar like your fuckin mad at it. It could help with those in-your-face type of riffs...

On with the show - Motley Crue cover. I think this was the first song in D standard tuning i learned. That or some other song by Crue. Very good song in my opinion, Mick Mars is a very underrated guitar player! Solos at 1:23 and 2:26, let me know what you think!

Bridge, neck or both positions for soloing?

I personally like to use both, i like having the gain from the bridge but also the smoothness of neck. I find it works good with EMG 81/85s. On my other guitar i have JB in the bridge and jazz in the neck (both duncans). In that case i like keeping it in the bridge because im not huge on the JB...

Yeah Josh, i was reading the forum and halfway through i was like “wait a second” and i couldnt believe it was you haha! That show was AWESOME. It was my girlfriend’s first real concert and she was really anxious about being in GA and during BFMV’s set she was pretty nervous about all the people...

Finally Seen A7X Live | Dreams & Goals As a Musician

Very inspiring Josh. I truly admire your passion, and i personally believe that the biggest asset someone could have is a drive, motivation, and passion. I was also at this concert and it was definitely one of the best nights of my life. To me seeing the band felt like i was watching fictional...

Neck through vs bolt on necks

Update: i got my bolt on avenger, so far i feel like neck through gives you more access to the higher frets whereas bolt on feels like theres a clump of wood in the palm by your thumb. Maybe its just the guitar i own, but the small restriction isnt terrible

Im seeing a lot of trivium here and i HAVE to add the song shogun, abosulte masterpiece and i consider triviums very own “master of puppets” composition. I LOVE the end especially after clean part when Heafey starts singing “now the seas rise up as serpents…” fucking BADASS. Didnt really...

I always loved the way Frusciante played the chords in the verses of this song so i wanted to share it with you guys. Basic song that i would recommend to anyone to learn! Not gonna lie i was struggling with that intro for a while and its still not perfect so if you have any tips for it let me know!

SOLO RECOMMENDATION: Shepherd of fire. This is a KICKASS solo to learn and to practice string skipping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and of course alternate picking. I was saving this video for later but i wanted to share it anyways while i work on something else.. Please excuse the bad film quality and e
