Trying to use diminished sounding things more, I think I'm finally coming around to the sound of them and how they can be used to build tension in a cool and unique way.
I am currently trying to make major adjustments to my picking technique so that I use my wrist instead of my elbow to guide the movement. At the moment it takes a lot of focus and conscious thought, but I know that if I just stick with it, it will benefit me greatly in the long run.

you're not doing anything wrong. I think you just need to get more comfortable with the instrument. Give it time and practice to ingrain the finger positions in your brain and you'll get it.
I started learning this a few days ago. It could be better of course, but at this point I just want to post something. I know getting my foot out of the door will prompt me to post better things going forwards.
