Dude this is really cool! Sounds like you are really discovering that area of the fretboard with your licks.
Challenge! Have a look at the CAGED system lessons on this site and have a go at breaking out the C shape area. I think you were heading towards the A shape area (between frets 5 and...
This sounds really cool! It almost sounds like a boss level in mario or something!
I think what would be cool to do is keeping on one area of the fretboard a bit longer to focus on that right hand technique! Then gradually add another fret area to focus on the changes. Definitely get a...
Awesome first start! Very well done! This was one of my first tunes too.
When you're jumping up to the 13th fret and going 13-12-13-12-13-12, This is slightly faster than the rest of the riff. We are playing 13-12 three times. I'd definitely recommend practicing this part of the riff on its own...
Hi man, these chords are coming through nice and clean! :)
I was going to suggest as a bit of practice to maybe avoid the gap in between the chords? And see how you get on with the chord change. Get a metronome (unless you already have one), bring the speed down and work on some changes and...
Hi guys, this is my second upload of the same video I posted before. The last 50 seconds appeared to freeze!
Anyway, hope you enjoy the lesson. If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask :)
Also, I have pretty bad frets. They are stupidly flat which affects the high E string...
Yep, nothing wrong with that 3/4 feel! Just so you could accent on the beginning of every 3 :)
I have to re upload the video unfortunately. The last 50 seconds kept freezing but audio still going. Am sorting it out now
This is really cool!
Can tell you have been listening to the metronome more! Its far more steady, and also your picking motion might have helped this too. Practicing inside and outside picking is really good for technique, so keep up with it!
The clean tone is so that you can hear just how...
I gave up with downpicking and just made every attempt to alternate pick it! I never used a downpicking approach enough to learn it properly.
Being able to fit with 4/4 makes me believe it's probably 6/8 now and not 7/8.
That really awesome chromatic riff might feel a bit strange playing to a 4/4 click but its really the only way to practice this. Its because the riff is in groups of 3 that pushes the click. Just slow it down. Though in groups of 3, you gotta focus on playing 2 notes per click.
The verse is a...
What part of the song are you referring to? There is a slightly fancy time signature in the verse riff (from memory), but most of the main riffs are in 4/4 (maybe 2/4).
Though they share similar notes, there is quite a difference within their approach. Such as pentatonics used more for the blues. Blues players arent thinking quantity (or thinking about those extra two notes....if anything they are thinking about a flat 5). They are thinking more about stylistic...
I use Ultex Jazz 3s. Really durable material. Used to use just normal jazz 3s but have found this material to be a little pricey in comparison but well worth the extra £. On the topic of picks, I am so certain picks have legs. I cant remember the amount of times I drop a pick and disappears...
That tone is pretty awesome mate. What are you plugged into?
They proper hammer it with the riffs in this album dont they. Such an underrated album in my opinion!
Its a metronome type of job I think! However if you haven't tried this kind of stuff before then bloody good going with it...
I think bends, vibrato and other embellishments can sometimes rely on your ear to make sure you are in tune. Your bends are sounding cool. Maybe the best form of practice is to revisit the song on a few occasions?
Putting the song aside, as practice, have you tried playing the note you want to...
Hey Kye! This is really cool! And only after 5 days.
In regards to your question about sharps and flats...at this moment in time it doesnt really matter if you call it a G# or an Ab for example. This is known as an enharmonic equivalent, where they both sound like the same notes however in...
The best way to practice (depends on how you like to learn);
- Practice what inspires you to play (however try to listen and learn lots of styles)
- Use a metronome
- Understand your strengths and weaknesses, creating plan of action to work on key points you might be struggling with
- Keep...
