Going out of tune quick on player series strat

You can stretch them now and you can also loosen the strings enough (one at a time) to pull them out of the nut slot to sauce 'em up!

New strings, you just may not have stretched them out enough. If it continues to be an issue get thee some Big Bends Nut Sauce and lube the string contact points with it - bridge and nut - and see if it gets better.

Sounds great! For the second part you were working on, no sure you were playing it right? I go from 10th position and alternate pick. I do NOT have it up to speed. At all.

Definitely getting there, Ash! I can SEE your tension. You need to tell Alicia (who is right, by the way) that she needs to rub your shoulders before you hit record! Keep it up, bro!

Hmm. Always going flat? Or is it sharp? Did this start with the last restring? Is it one string or several?

Rule of thumb - every held note should have SOME kind of inflection (vibrato, bend, etc) to it unless you make a conscious choice NOT to.

You're not wrong. Learning and playing along with a vocal melody is a fantastic way to learn how to be expressive as a player, and also a good way to learn how those melodies are constructed!

The first line you play, all I hear is "Take my breath away." Alicia, you're old enough to know what I'm talking about. I think.

Sounding better and better. You're not in Zakk-land so it's definitely not "too much." You want to get to where you can adjust your vibrato width and speed to match your mood, so it's good to practice to "fast and wide" (closer to Zakk-land) so that when you PLAY you can back off and just be...

new here and trying to find ideas for my band that needs help on how to write a song

Musically, it starts from an idea. Whether that idea is a riff, a melody, a beat on the drums - whatever. Start with that. Whoever came up with that plays it over and over until someone else "finds" their part around it. If you have a riff, for example, keep playing that riff over and over until...

You CAN customize your string sets, with companies like StringJoy, but that can get expensive. There are definitely skinny top/heavy bottom type of sets out there, though not all local shops will have them. https://www.ernieball.com/guitar-strings/electric-guitar-strings

@Donovan I can definitely feel the difference. 6 (soon to be 7) of my 10 electrics have stainless, and I vowed that I wouldn't buy a guitar with nickel frets again. Not sure why I hemmed on replacing these with stainless. Especially since I wanted to test this shop on the stainless fret job...
