    tips for practicing

My two most common mistakes used to be not to use a metronome and to try to play far too fast. Now I’ve learned that lesson and my progression is much better and I am much more precise. Guitar learning is a long way, and it is much better to take it easy

    Help with getting started again.

I forgot my guitar on the corner of a room for more than 10 years. I lost a lot of skills, but 5 months ago I decided to go back to my old guitar and I can’t feel more alive. I never thought I would learn a word of music theory and here I am like a kid discovering a new world. I would tell you...

Van anybody help me with this Scale?

Wow! I didn’t know I was getting into some advanced theory…I guess I’ll have to take the theory seriously, because it seems I am getting a little stuck in what I knew so far and my intuition is guiding me to learn something more complicated. The scale sounds really awesome…I think that my ear...

Van anybody help me with this Scale?

The other day I was practicing the A minor scale positions, but my intuition kind of guided me and I started to find all over the fretboard notes that didn’t fit in the minor shapes anymore. The sound reminded me a lot of arabian music. I did a google search to try to find what I was playing and...

Going to see Metallica live soon!

I saw Metallica last february in Madrid in the European leg of their tour. They played a lot of the new record. I would say nearly half of the show was new stuff and the other half classics, mostly of their first four records. It was the 5th time I saw Metallica live and though this wasn’t the...

Jake, I’m impressed you sold your tremoni to tremonti himself!! Amazing! I’ve heard that the les pauls tend to go out of tune. Do prs stay in tune better? I definitely wish I could have both of them…but it is not gonna be possible at the moment unless I win the lotto or something… lol

    Does anybody use PRS guitars?

Wow!!! You both have great pieces of art as Randy called them!! And the sound quality is amazing. I looks like PRS are very versatile guitars. I was originally considering a Gibson les paul, because they are an icon, a piece of the history of rock, but I heard about PRS and I am not so sure...

Thank you guys!! You are a great help. I’ ll start with simple stuff like Jak suggests and increase the difficulty little by little. Training the ear takes a lot of work, doesn’t it?
