Guitar Nobody Synth - Fractal Preset

Got any specific video that you learned something cool from? :D I love sound design and been wanting to dive more into the kind of stuff for a while. Don't have an Axe FX tho so can't check out your preset sadly.

Help working out a song by ear?

Im doing this in standard tuning and i'm pretty sure they're tuned down (i thought a whole step but then i saw you said G# so that's probably it), so it won't sound like it's played in the song but these are the notes i'm hearing for the electric guitar part and i believe i got it down...

    Raw material

Can't recommend it enough :) I spent some time with it and learned a lot. Pretty invaluable to get access to those stems as well as lots of educational material and even videos with the actual mixing engineers of the songs explaining their approach etc.

    Raw material

Have you checked out Nail The Mix? I don't think they have anything A7X but i'm not 100% sure. They do have stems for other big metal bands though!

How to stop being so hard on myself

I had a similar struggle the last few years. I had played well over 10 years and i was the same that i never really learned to play a whole song - i never had a reason to because i didn't play in a band or anything and i always got bored and moved on when i had gotten over the most challenging...

    Advanced Improvisation

Awesome! I'd love to know how it goes if you try it out :D And feel free to hit me up here or in DMs if you wanna talk more about improv or whatever cos it's always fun discussing that stuff - and processing ideas and thoughts into words is also really helpful when learning :)

    Advanced Improvisation

I've played for like 15 years but only started really learning theory and improvisation a few years ago, so i'm no improv expert by any means but i think i might have some valuable thoughts at least :) My approach to it might be unconventional, but maybe you'll relate as you've also learned a...

How do you get your guitar tones

Well, tone is in your fingers is what a lot of people say, and while that's true, i think it should never be confused with what good gear can do because in my opinion they're two very different things. I used to always play with pretty uninspiring tone because i couldn't afford any good...

    Guitar Power chord fixes

Great to hear you're making progress :D I think practicing all kinds of chords is great that way because you really are forced to start being aware of tension. Learning to be more relaxed is also something that will apply to your technique in general.

What are you practicing or learning right now?

Here's a piece of music that really inspired me lately :D Just makes me happy haha.. I enjoy trying to transcribe stuff that is not played on a guitar!

    Guitar Power chord fixes

For chords in general i think it's very important to take a look at how you're aligning your wrist (closer or further from your body) as well as where you are placing your thumb on the neck because that will affect how much force you need to push the strings down. So try to be very aware of any...

What are you currently listening to?

Love it! I've been listening to Gustav Holst because Syn mentioned they had listened to him while writing The Stage, i think. I'm also a big John Williams fan so it has been really amazing to hear how he took inspiration from Gustav Holst to create the music for the original Star Wars. "Mars...

Does my picking technique hurt my hand?

It looks good. Are you tense when playing? When working on new techniques that are difficult, i often notice my whole body being very tense. Try to be very mindful about that, espsecially all the small muscles in your arms and hands that might be tensing up. Other than that, i'll share some of...

    Rhythm exercises

What more exactly do you have trouble with? Personally i never used any specific exercises for rhythm, other than learning to play music and making sure i could play it perfectly in time. Generally when practicing, i think it's important that (for the most part) you're playing at a tempo that...

A few of the big things holding me back

Thanks for sharing! And It sounds great dude - your bends are fkn tasty :D It sounds beautiful when you take your time with your notes and leave a lot of space in the music. I think i understand what you feel is your problem is though, as it sounds like you at some points get stuck in thinking...

    Question on soloing

How i would play it is with pinky on 19th, index on 16th on the E string and middle on 17th on the B string. And as William said it's economy picking so you would reapeat this pattern of picking: up - pull off - up - down - down So contrary to alternate picking you would switch strings with...
