So as far as I understand, bends are also out of the game. Same thing as playing the same note in a different position 😅.
That makes it more challenging, bends are part of literally all phrases I ever play 🤣🤣. Anyway, here is my entry.
Hey all!
I've been taking a little time off from guitar, haven't touched one in almost a month or so. This contest seems as good a reason as any to get back into it, looks like a great idea. 😁👍 Will submit my entry soon, can't wait to see all your entries as well.
Oh man, there is just something magical about 90s Dream Theater. They were definitely an extremely important band in my early metal years, in the mid 00s, listening to every album from When Dream And Day Unite up to Octavarium up and down. Depending on the day, my favorite album from them would...
This is great news, I was thinking about throwing my guitar anyway and picking up bass instead :ROFLMAO: .
Maybe I'll wait a bit more for that, but in the mean time... Hail to the (new) king! 🤴👑
Absolutely agree on Ahsoka. She was insufferable in the Clone Wars pilot/movie and had such good character development over the series. I think by season 3 she is already amazing, and season 5 and 7 she is running the show. I think Filoni has said in interviews before that he deliberately...
On top of what everyone is saying: When I see a section with a wild mix of notes with different length values, 8ths, 16ths, whatever: I take a metronome and put it to a really slow speed... like maybe 40 bpm or so, so that I can really easily identify each 16ths note. Then I play the passage to...
You mute it. In particular, it's a standard technique to play a note together with its octave. So let's say for example you want to play 5 x 7 x x x, right? You use your index finger to press the E string at the 5ths fret, but you also use it to lightly touch the A string (and maybe also the D...
I thought a bit about this. On a personal level, the answer is easy. My motivation on guitar is at an all time low right now, so the motivation to actively create or engage with user content is low as well. But that is honestly just a natural evolution of highs and lows and nothing to be worried...
Last, but not least... It did take like 8 days in the end, not 6, but anyway.
What did I learn from this challenge? I would say, putting artificial restricitions like that made me appreciate more what luxury we have, being able to play multiple strings, haha. One thing that I will keep in...
This was my post in the other thread, on the 1st of february. Here is where I stand right now, 4 months later:
Technique: I certainly made progress in my technique. But I also have to say: i have had zero motivation lately to drill technique exercises. Absolutely none. If I can motivate myself...
I usually prefer the action at the 12th fret at around 1.3-1.5 mm on the high e string and around 1.5-1.8 mm on the low E string, at the 12th fret each. Those are just settings I found working for me, personal milage may vary, but 3 mm sounds way to high.
Anyway, the crucial steps to set up a...
Day 4, the naughty G string. I have nothing particularly special for today, just a short idea. My tremolo picking definitely needs quite some work. :) Enjoy!
Had zero time for guitar this weekend, so no video yesterday. So here is my third riff.
I think it's noticable that I had trouble keeping the 6/8 rhythm at some points, but whatever. I thought the idea itself had some potential. :D Enjoy.
Day 2, String 2, Riff 2:
I had no time at all today, and could not even get my looper pedal to work. So here is a simple 12 bar blues, 2 repetitions. First is more like a bass line, the second run through is more a melody. Enjoy.
Day 1, low E string... well, actually D string. I didn't plan much, I just improvised a bunch to a drum track and recorded some of it. A couple of times, the changes in the drums caught me off guard and threw out of rhythm a bit. Anyway, enjoy.
