    Hey guys!
Sorry I am not too active on here anymore although I still read through the articles. Not much time these days.
Anyway, I looked at my guitar the other day and wondered if I used a “wrong” picking technique. Not so much holding the pick but my hand positioning. This came to my mind because the golden Syn Gates pickup that I have in my guitar since January really starts to wear down already and you can see the gold fade at the right where my hand rests.
So do you guys think that is my “fault” and I should start to position my hand differently or is this unavoidable? Here is a video of me just jamming for fun, which I uploaded a while ago, so you get an idea about my hand positioning.

Unavoidable. There are spots of wear like that on the bridge of my $4kUS PRS. Sweat, oils, and movement do that over time, and let’s just call it “natural antiquing.” Black powdercoat finishes seem to do better than chrome or gold, but it’s pretty much inevitable.
