Bass Run For 'Purgatory'

Hey guys and dolls! This is my Day 1 of “100 Days of Practice” challenge. I record this tonight, but I wanted to post it here just to see if there was any feedback. My right arm hurts, lol! It’s not the greatest but I’m not a bassist but I’m looking to really learn so I can write stuff for our originals.
I also added a new solo tip in Syn’s topic about bends if you’re interested. I hope you enjoy!

Sounds awesome, but if you’re asking for honest feedback, there’s a few places where the guitar is busy, and I just wanted the bass to lock in with the drums and start going WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP along with the kick and snare instead of keeping up with the guitar. That all comes down to personal taste, but you DID ask for input and feedback!

That’s what I was thinking! I didn’t want it to be too busy! Is there a time stamp you could reference?

I’m thinking at least part of the verses, so :25, 1:13, and 1:56, and a couple others maybe. Especially if Holly’s doing faster or busier vocals there. Maybe start more minimalist and as you get to the 3rd or a later verse, add a little bit more back in then?

Maybe under the first part of the solo, too? I mean, I don’t KNOW if either would sound better than what you’re doing, but if it was my song, I’d want to try it and see what everyone in the band or studio thought.

There was SOOO much that changed last night. When we went to record the bass lines, our engineer’s first instrument is the bass. And so he listened to the parts where we weren’t sure about, and he offered MUCH better ways to play them. Approaching the bass is 100000% different than the guitar and I learned that REAL quick! There was a lot that was changed and I have to say it sounds MUCH better. Thank you for your feedback, because I wasn’t sure how I felt about some of it.
