Do perferct guitars exist?

Hey guys, I picked up my syn custom today and noticed some finish flaws which are pretty noticeable at some bits, this is the second one I have had and wondered if there is such a thing as a guitar with now flaws (excluding one-offs)

Honestly, it’s pretty rare. My $4k PRS has a minor blemish in the topcoat you can only see up close, right behind the bridge. I haven’t found ANYTHING on the Ormsby yet, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. If you bought it brand new and you feel there are more issues than there should be for the cost, ask for an exchange. Under $1,000 US, I don’t think you can say much about finish flaws unless they’re pretty bad, i.e. noticeable from standing distance.

Damn, seriously, Guess I’m not too bad off.
Only one bit is able to be seen when standing but it’s on the back of the neck.

On the back of the neck, can you FEEL it? The neck is important. If you can FEEL an imperfection, THAT is not really “cosmetic” then.

Well, new IS new, but they are complex, and made of wood by machine and hand, and minor imperfections are part of the process. If it’s got a ding taken out of it, that’s returnable. To each his or her own, I suppose, but I’m willing to accept minor, nitpicky cosmetic issues if the guitar otherwise feels, plays, and sounds like a guitar at that price point should.

You gotta love them for what they are and it’s really nice, the binding is a tad inconsistent past the 15/17 fret but causing no playability issues

The thing about companies that make things is usually the two problems they hate the most are #1 not making enough things and #2 waste. There’s not any high-volume guitar manufacturer who can afford to bleed money trying to stop every small problem.
Wasn’t there an artist who made their personal strat by taking like a half dozen strats and picking his favorite parts from each? Eric Clapton maybe? That’s one way to make a perfect instrument.
