But every now and then I Come across Something I Like and give it another listen on SpotifyHm, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, The Chainsmokers, Maroon 5 but I honestly dont give a fuck to today's new pop songs, I dont even listen to them usually, I just sometimes hear a song from them in a store or so and Im like, Meh, this isnt that bad x)
Agreed, most modern metal isn't great.I don't even think it makes sense to think and talk about "pop music" as if it wasn't a hundred different things. The Beatles, modern American dance music, Nickelback, mumble rap, and independent hits such as "Somebody That I Used to Know" or "Gangnam Style" are all worlds apart.
Max Martin is pretty much superhuman. I like to pretend that Metal is the best music, but honestly too much modern metal shows all of the flaws of modern "pop music" (yes I just contradicted myself by saying that) without showing any greater creativity.
Seems to be a new pop singer every so often, don't worry, they'll be more, but yeah, to quote tenacious-d "nothing will destroy the metal".Hm, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, The Chainsmokers, Maroon 5 but I honestly dont give a fuck to today's new pop songs, I dont even listen to them usually, I just sometimes hear a song from them in a store or so and Im like, Meh, this isnt that bad x)
I don't think that's a fair assessment.Fundamentally you're wrong, if a pop song would be objectively bad it wouldn't be a popular song. In the end any pop song is gonna shit on a metal song you like because a good pop song is simply harder to write
True. And I somehow feel we don't have those undeniably great artists in popular music anymore.I think "pop" has become a dirty word because people associate it with cookie-cutter, mass-produced bullshit music that the media has been showing down our throats for the last 25 years or so. But in reality, a lot of pop music is undeniable. You can't deny Michael Jackson, Prince, Elton John, George Michael, Whitney Houston and artists like that. No matter what genre you prefer overall, you gotta at least respect them.
Nothing is worng with the classic pop artists that you mentioned, it's modern pop that sucks.I think "pop" has become a dirty word because people associate it with cookie-cutter, mass-produced bullshit music that the media has been showing down our throats for the last 25 years or so. But in reality, a lot of pop music is undeniable. You can't deny Michael Jackson, Prince, Elton John, George Michael, Whitney Houston and artists like that. For a good while Tool couldn't write a Tool song.I don't think that's a fair assessment.
Tool can't write an Elton John song, but Elton John can't write a Tool song either. There isn't a scale of "hardness" for writing songs in certain genres. It all depends on the artist themselves, not the whole genre.
Damn thanks for showing this, he sounds amazing!Jacob Lee. I was looking for acoustic guitars songs and someone send me this. A few of his songs made it to my all time favourites.
It's some kind of electronic pop, he has really good lyrics. I also really liked the way certain sounds are used in 'Zen'.
Besides this my favourite album is Ceremonials from Florence and the machine. I'm not sure which genre that is. Sia also has good songs.
I'm glad you like it.Damn thanks for showing this, he sounds amazing!
If you ask me he is one of the best newer artists.Wow, Jacob Lee IS really good!
