Hey guys, how are you doing?
So, this saturday we will go camping with my archery club and I would love to bring an acoustic guitar. The problem is I am not really an acoustic guy and can’t really play too much on an acoustic guitar. Also I am not anywhere deep into theory yet. So I thought maybe you could give me some tips on usefull things to practice to play around a campfire. I don’t know if it will come in use or if we have someone who can sing but I am open for any advice. 😀

Ids is spot on. Campfire playing is not about leads or theory or any of that. It’s about simple chords and strong rhythm for strumming and a group of people singing along together, as long as someone brought drinks, too. Know your open major chords inside out and you’re 75-85% of the way there. All you need to know is basic chords, a grasp on the rhythm and changes, and someone who’s dying to sing it.

Ids beat me to it. Learn your caged system chords. On an acoustic those sound best especially if you’re fingers are down on all the strings.
You can also play most songs on an acoustic too. Most of my songs sound ok acoustically. It’s definitely possible.
