I agree with Ids and Jak. Only thing I would add is that you never See Syns Fingers stretched Out Like many Players do for their rhythm playing. He Likes to keep his Fingers tucked Up.

That lesson is really good for a general idea, you might even find your own way of holding a pick thats comfortable to you, i hold mine like a closed fist with my fingers tucked away because i find it more comfortable and "normal" to me, but players like Matt Heafy sometimes have their hands extended.

You have to find your own way, following the basic guidelines in the lesson. I have tried how Syn holds it. I may as well be playing a lefty guitar strung with steamed noodles.

I've just changed how I hold the pick half a year a go following the lesson here. (Not exactly the same, found a position that suits me)
At first I thought I'll never get used to it and I'm better playing with my legs.
Still think the same, but best change I did so far XD

Definitely study how others hold theirs but find what works best for you! That’s how you’ll get optimal playing out of yourself
