All musicians no matter what level they are at struggle with writing and practicing. In Brians case, he practices the certain parts the he struggle with until that section is down. Many musicians struggle to play their own solos live (Like Beast and the Harlot haha) because they are very weird and uncomfortable to play. Tone is in the fingers..... Until the guitar is set up bad or doesn't play right for you. In my experience, whenever I set up my guitar to preference and it feels right for me, I never struggle with the guitar, just learning the music which than is a million times much more better. Henceforth you should also learn the arpeggios he uses to play the solo
