I’m not sure I actually lift my finger. I think I do this(I quickly checked woth a fast run) I don’t lift my finger if the note after it is higher and on the same string. In EVERY other instance I do lift my finger. Hope this helps!
I always consider starting on G in the C Major scale as G mixolydian. But the whole chord progression only really is G mixolydian if your tone center would be G too. At least that’she what I think and it kinda makes sense to me

Thank you so much for clarifying that. I kind of was confused because I always learned that c was C ionian because you start on C. And D would be D Dorian because you start on D and so on and so forth so I was kind of confused about that.

@Ids!!! I found this website and I think you may find it useful. It turns out that like the CAGED system, there are specific “positions” for each mode. I am playing a C ionian but I’m playing it out of the A position. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. I knew there were different positions for each mode but I thought every mode had to start on the root note. I guess not! http://www.tyquinn.com/2010/modes-explained-3-caged-modes/
