So I started thinking about my influences and I kinda started to label them as first, second and third order influences(yes I’m kinda using math terms her)
Basically it works as follows:
First order: your biggest influences you take into your own style(or want to take into your own style)
Second order: influences that are noticeable in your playing but not really as fundamentally important to you compared to the first order
Third order: influences you don’t really hear but are there regardless
For me it’s like this:
First order: Syn, John Mayer, George Harrison, John Frusciante and Django Reinhardt
Second order: Eric Clapton, B.B. king, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker and SRV(still kinda working on the last three)
Third order: Paul Gilbert, Gary Moore, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Adrian Smith
