Ok let’s do this one then. Harmonically it’s probably the easiest gypsy jazz song there is. You can do A harmonic minor over the whole thing btw (and a bunch of other stuff but that mau be makes it a bit more difficult)

This one is also a bit slower. The original django reinhardt recording is like 197 BPM and this one is only 150 BPM

this is a GREAT backing track Ids! I have no clue about anything with gypsy jazz but it leaves a lot of room for me to be able to actually find notes that sound cool and get in a good feel and melody for the progression. I’ll be working on this for sure!

I think this backing track improvisation should be taken at a slower pace. We’re picking a lot of different styles, key signatures, and chord phrases that may be making it difficult for some to have time to learn a scale that will work and get it solid enough to be able to use. Let’s start with one key signature a month and focus on that.
@calvin you pick the key signature 🤗

As per jak. I have decided to use g minor. We just did this one for the floyd track so a lot of us should be familiar. Lets see how far we can expand on this scale.

I picked a longer back track. But after a month of learning the scale and arpeggios and whatnot that 10 minutes wont seem long enough. Remember that you have a month. So the week of july 16th is when well readdress. Now im not gonna tell people to not do the track ids posted. If you wanted to keep dping those with him all the power to you. But jak made a good point on my last video of not really expanding enough on one scale before moving to the next. Maybe we should have started with a month to begin with.should give you lots of study time. If you liked the weekly deadline you could make weekly goals for yourself. Learn the base scale first. Maybe a mode or two tp fit eaxh chord the next week. The arpeggios the next week.. etc. Then put it all together in the video. I look forward to seeing what everyone puts together.

I’ll jump in on this now. I’ve been trying to push myself to play more and participate more here (wasn’t that great at participating in regular school either). Also, seems like fun. So what’s next?
