I have noticed some students feeling a little slipped in their musical journeys. I think one thing that really boosted my confidence and drive was doing live streams and jams.
So what if we did this...
Posting riffs, we all admit, we do them 10,000 times before we feel confident enough to post them. And a la @Ed Seith #metalminute, let's overcome this. We all should focus and see something to the end. Not just the intro. Not just the solo. Not just a jam. I think we should choose a student to host a LIVE STREAM on either Instagram or YouTube and we all could tune in and watch like an audience.

I personally believe it would really help take our confidence to the next level. It's like "Oh shit. I have a gig this week, I MUST practice!" And it gives us something to look forward to. Feeling stuck in stalemate with music stems from feeling like you're not taking that next step. So what do you guys think? Yay or nay?

That could be great. I suggest we look at limiting the time - maybe a quick 10-15 minutes, tops, if that long (depending on what you have in mind), so it's less intimidating for the crew, and we're not stuck listening to someone prattle on incessantly, like literally every person who watches one of my overlong streams or non-metalminute posts! (An hour and a half on Floyd? REALLY, ED???)

So, basicly a live stream where you play through one complete song and then get feedback? I think that is a really cool idea! Especially because it's kinde a Live lite experience
But then again if it is something you need to put a lot of work into it has to be well planned, because many of us can't afford a week of intense practice before a live stream

Not waiting is part of the motivation. WARTS AND ALL.

Maybe it needs to start with some more experienced players, so the newer people can see that even really good players mess up when they're in the music store or otherwise on the spot?

Except Hector. I don't think he makes mistakes, and that would only discourage people.

There's no feedback in this one it's literally just like a little Mini show that people come and watch.

Here's the thing. When I learned only 5 chords I performed a little Mini show for my family. When I knew only 6 chords I was writing my own songs. We always need to evolve and push ourselves and not be afraid to make ourselves known. Even if you've only learned 5 chords there are dozens of songs that you can perform that don't take much effort.

Yes I agree. The one thing about these live streams that we have done is that we always end up being on there for like 3 hours lol! Because everyone loves to chat and meet each other. I think 10 to 15 minutes is just perfect!

I dunno if I like the idea of Instagram.. but let's say who ever is hosting can choose whatever platform works best for them. For example.. I have a street jelly account that would make it easier for me. Altho I'm not sure this oc will support live streams lol.

I would think a generally "mainstream" site would be mandatory. I've never heard of Street Jelly, and I doubt most of us have. You'd probably have a very low turnout just because most will not want to create yet another new account.

The problem with other sites is you need programs and plug ins. I dont have those. I tried to use YouTube and they dont allow me. Instagram means I have to unplug headphones. Another issue due to the noise. You dont need to make accounts to watch streams. To leave rates and whatnot are different. And the turnout isnt bad at all as there is a great community of it's own there. I havent used it yet since o for my PC back. It's also free.

But if youd like me to attempt it on things that dont allow me to stream without certain equipment or whatnot its whatever to me.
