Looks like I need to swap my 11rack for AXE

Recently syn has been doing videos for AXE im guessing they are going to release avenged sevenfold presets for axe. He has done Buried Alive, Paradime and The Stage playthroughs. I have a eleven rack and i can never produce a a7x sound. I even approached some youtube companies who make presets and ask them to do it and i would pay for it, for example they did a dream theatre cover pack preset, but they still they said no. Synyster gates doing the axe thing is quite cool and promising the only bummer is I don’t have that hardware. I listened to the stage solo he did and it sounded almost identical to the guitar track of the stage on cd and i have the stage mastertrack of the solo and it sounds very similar or the same. Just checked the price of the hardware and I cant afford that lol I can only hope he does stuff for eleven rack but very unlikely cause it looks like he cant dabble with other hardwares as he is maybe sponsored by axe fx.

He is really doing all axe-fx stuff because he want to use it himself on tour. I kind of consider it beige available for us as a bonus.

Shit i didnt know he was using that stuff on tour last time i heard he was using the hellwin amp from shcecter. If he shares the preset i might have to find a way to get the axe fx hardware.

Last tour was all Hellwin. The videos he’s posting are a result of Cliff and the Fractal guys helping him model the Hellwins and build tones out for the next tour, and perhaps future recordings. A lot of us *hope* he or they will share the tones, but that has not been confirmed.

ahhh I see so he has axe fx have the tone and then the hellwins amplify the tone am i right?

I think you can put Axe-fx directly into PA. It also is an amp modeler so you don’the really need the hellwin at all. Only to tone match the hellwin on the axe-fx

Not quite, Andrew. AxeFX is a modeler. They’re COPYING what the Hellwins do into the unit. Then he doesn’t need amps or microphones anymore. Run the outs from the AxeFX right into the PA mixer, guaranteed same tone, night after night, without all the weight and complexity of tube amps and 4×12 cabinets.

I think i can get the axe fx if i sell my eleven rack and add some money on top Ive seen some for around £700 I hope Im not mistaken but i would only get it if we can get the tones he uses. Im not sure but if there are people making tones to be bought perhaps we may not get these tones. we can only hope. Also do I need to get the best version of hardware of axe fx to use his tones if we get them?

@andrew both Ghost and Metallica use it live for sure. I have an eleven rack and honestly I think it’s kinda poop. I bought a Kemper and love it but with the Axe FX 3 I tempted to buy it once it drops to 2,500. It’s 3,500 right now unless you get on the wait list or just wait till it drops.

@andrew I really want to get it myself but I have the Kemper so I am torn. I love the Kemper but it’s still not a replacement for a tube amp for me but it has so many more advantages. Like for example my Orange tube amp sounds amazing but it’s just 1 Orange tube amp. The Axe can do so much more. I record in my basement and recording my tube amps can be a challenge but recording with the Kemper is super easy. I’m sure the Axe FX is kinda the same.

@andrew you can get the Axe FX 2 still before its gone for 1,700. It will do pretty much the same thing but not as much power and it’s the older model. I’m not sure about all the AX8 or FX8 can do. @Ed might be able to help more there. I think if you got the Axe FX2 it will do all you want. It’s what big bands have used and still may be using cause the 3 is just came out.

Haha it’s a beast of a device and once you use it you’ll probably use it for so much more than A7X but I totally understand it’s spendy. That’s not including all kinds of cab packs and tone packs you can buy. I’m torn on buying it cause for the most part I have a few clean sounds, rock and metal sounds I use but I can’t help but love gear. Haha no food in my house but have beer and gear.

Slightly less power and processing, yes. Also the on-unit programming interface was DRASTICALLY improved, but I build presets in the app, not directly on the unit. I bought my 2XL+ a year ago, and I’m in no hurry to sell it for the 3. Only Syn or Cliff at Fractal would be able to say if @syn‘s presets would work on the 2, assuming they are made available AT ALL (still don’t know).
