May I ask why?
He seems like a nice guy. I asked him whether he has a video on voice leading because I couldn't find it in his channel and he replied 'go through my channel' I mean it isn't particularly helpful in terms of what I was asking but at the same time he actually took the time to reply which most famous people don't, can be because they do not see it or because they don't what to but the fact remains he replied and other people don't which is pretty cool. Besides he has a huge knowledge of music (theory) so if you're looking for a good free source for everything music his channel is probably the best out there.
I don't really know honestly, maybe it has something to do with his asshole personality. Even what you said about asking him a question and he ends up saying search through my channel, sounds like an asshole to me honestly, he might as well not even bother responding. I get the idea that the guy is stuck up as hell, as though he has a superiority complex because he knows so much about music theory, whereas yourself and Papa are knowledgeable about the same thing and I don't think you guys are assholes. But then again, I'm just a random guy on the internet, acknowledge my opinion however you want I guess.
Did anyone else while watching this, get confused at why Rick analysed F#m7 as the ii7 chord and not the vi7 in A Major?
Either he's made a mistake or he's treating the E chord as a resolution to E major? I'm not all the way through yet so maybe he corrects it. I just found it strange

Rick is a SUPER nice guy. Syn has done a YouTube with him and I've met him a couple of times. (And he was nice to me before he knew I was Syn's dad). Yeah, his knowledge is unearthly. And he is very "matter of fact" about it which might seem off-putting - but he really is a sweetheart. And crazy busy. And I get the "blowoff" reply. Sometimes I get questions from someone who will ask me something that is clearly covered in a lesson. Not a question about further clarification. A question like "How do you do a bare chord?" I don't have time to find the number of that specific lesson, so I'll just say "it's in the beginner's section". Not trying to be a dick. Just a matter of not having the time to do something they could do for themselves. If I was being a dick, I wouldn't answer at all.
But you are not the first person I have heard say they thought Rick was a dick or arrogant or whatever. Maybe something about his personality or delivery. I don't know. But like I said - in real life, he's way fuckin' cool.

He puts an absolute wealth of knowledge online for free - Knowledge that most people would have to put themselves in 1000's of £/$'S of debt to receive in College/University - and even then, they might not ever get the clear, no bull-explanations that he provides on his channel or the perspective that he has on his craft.
So if he's a bit short tempered with some people it's probably due to the fact that he's already covered a certain subject in a video that took him hours to edit, that then got de-monitized. Youtube's a grind and a half!

I actually went like 'cool, I got A reply very nice of him' so no hard feelings there, it just didn't really help me that much because I still can't find the lesson on voice leading and how to do it exactly. I know the theory behind it but I always need some like practical proof it works for me to actually grab the concept of it and I don't think I have that now. I mean I can do melodies on top of chords but Rick also mentions things like because of voice leading this chord is next and the why it does that is a big question mark for me(like I can guess but I'm definetely not sure)
I really enjoy those "what makes this song great" videos!! On the Sheperd of Fire he actually had Syn with him was really cool! I love Rick analisys and the way he explains whats going on in the song! And dont forget caveman drums by Rick Beato, someone should make a compilation of it is awesome
Yeah I totally get you man. I've actually just done a search there and I'm not sure that he has 1 specific video that deals with voice leading as a topic (although I may be wrong) The way I have always understood voice leading with his knowledge is the smooth transition of notes between chords in a progression, like not having massive interval jumps that make a chord change sound too jagged or abrupt. That's probably only scratching the surface too.
Voice leading is a fairly simple concept. Imagine playing and E to and A. (baby chords) Concentrate on the high open E string that is in both chords. That's voice leading. As opposed to playing your baby E chord and then going up to the 5th fret to play an A bar chord.
We're just looking for common tones as we change chords OR when that's not possible - as little movement as possible. Trying to stay in the same position, etc.
One more example. Power chords. E to B. Play an E power chord (7th fret, A string - 9th fret, D string) Now for the B you could move that down to the 2nd fret OR you could take your E power chord and simply move your index finger from the 7th to the 6th fret. You would be playing the 3rd and 5th of a B chord. Much smoother. Right?

I think it is just personal opinion, it's a gut reaction opinion of someone. In your lessons, Brian: you seem like a genuinely nice guy, I don't get any of that douche-like vibe from you like I do with this dude. It's just personal preference, he seems, to me, to talk down to people who don't know as much as him, no doubt he would be the nice guy to you and Syn, because you guys are well known and are greatly knowledgeable, but with some random plebe like me? Nope.You may be surprised, some teachers have exactly that vibe but that's just a way to stress it's important to know what he's teaching is the way it is and you won't second guess it. Maybe if you meet him on the street he's incredibly nice even though you don't know as much as him.Again, just a random guy on the internet so don't take my opinion too seriously.
That makes total sense yeah thank you! I think it's one of those concepts that your ear definitely knows when it happens. Jacob Collier comes to mind for me when I think of it, all of his arrangement's sound really smooth and fluid.
