A metronome! Jamming along to your favorite tracks with perfect timing! And lots of James Hetfield videos! My top 3 tips for better rhythm guitaring! Haha really though pay attention to what James does..his right hand is basically a fucking drum machine!! He’s impeccable!

Definitely agree, playing to a click and playing along to your favorite songs is the best and easiest (and most fun) way to get rhythm. Now, thanks to things like Amazing Slow Downer, if you can’t keep up with a particular song, you can slow it down to where you CAN play it, and speed it up as you get better!

Imagine drumming on guitar. That’s how James Hetfield looks at it in a way. Practice strumming along to your favourite songs. Practice chugging on chords like all down strokes. Sometimes you can alternate strum up and down, but other times there’s a unique sound from just chugging on the down strokes, so practice that too! You can also practice triplets, both single note and powerchord. Practice alternating between chunky palm mutes and ringing chords (Almost Easy by Avenged comes to mind. The verse of the song). Rhythm can also include chaining single notes (see Unholy Confessions by Avenged for example).
Just practice all those things. The best thing I find is just learning to play along to your favourite songs!
Not sure if any of this helps, but hope it does!
