Needing Feedback

Hello everyone!
Since I have been working on stuff for the studio and I’ve been sick, it’s been difficult to be very active on here. I read things but I don’t really respond. I really would like some feedback from EVERYONE on something.
I always try to initiate activities, projects and contests to engage everyone and keep the school thriving. But the Q&A thing isn’t getting much attention (I’ve had three students send answers, hardly enough to issue the full video) there were rougly 10-15 questions and only 3 got answered.
Also, I initiated the Metal Minute contest for October. So far, dutifully, only 2 students (Rute and Rowan) have participated.
The engagement on the forums has been incredible. I see you all helping everyone so much and it’s so great to see. But I try to do these things for the fun aspect
So my question for you is…
What are some of your ideas for fun activities you’d like to see on the forums?
Let me know in the comments below

Honestly, I’m a little stressed for time so anything I do as far as filming is kinda late at night(hence the bad lightning). For example, my answers to those questions had bad lightning and my #metalminute from last night was also had bad lightning because I started doing those at like 10 pm. Due to my time constraint music theory stuff is probably what activates me the most or just questions I can answer completely in text. Other things that I like really is improv stuff because to me that combines every single essential thing about guitar playing.

My issue is filming a video becomes a task for me. I don’t have a phone right now, like literally. Recording audio is fine but something super easy like recording videos becomes difficult. Tat might be the issue for some as well.

Right now I don’t have a good setup to record myself or do videos, so I dunno. There’s something I’ve been thinking about recently that I might as well “think out loud” about here. As humans we are informed and motivated by what we see other people doing. If you see a rock star on stage, maybe you want to be a rock star on a stage. A powerful way to get fired up to hit the gym is to go to youtube and watch a quick video of other people lifting weights. You can probably think of a hundred other examples. The thing is, I’ve never seen another person really practice guitar. It seems like there’s a million guitarists on youtube, and a million videos about how and what to practice, but I’ve never stumbled across any video that was just a completely raw unedited practice session. So maybe what I’ll do when I get set up to make videos is put up videos of myself practicing. Maybe it’ll help motivate newer guitarists by showing them for-real that practice is a thing other people really do. I’ll probably just look like a no-talent dumbass, but whatever.

That’s a fantastic idea! I think that people can often get unmotivated when they’re learning new things and see all those pro players with years and years of hard Practice. I might have suffered from it myself.
I’ve been very busy with life lately, so i’ve been quiet in here, but I could post some videos too. I’ve actually been thinking about that for a while now, but my Internet connection is darn slow so I haven’t uploaded any videos yet.

Thank you all for the feedback!! I’ll just let this go because everyone is having things in their life inhibiting their ability to partake in things and I don’t want anyone to miss out on anything.
School is KILLING people this year!!!

I haven’t been sick, as such, but with the diet occasionally leaving me with less energy combined with prepping for the 100 mile El Tour de Tucson bike race/ride the Saturday before Thanksgiving, I spend fall playing less than usual as of now (Saturday morning), I don’t think I’ve played since early Thursday and haven’t had a solid “practice” session since perhaps Tuesday. I’ll be heading out for a 4 hour ride this morning, and then have family obligations again this evening, so it may not be until tomorrow that I really play again, though I will usually pick up an unplugged electric and noodle for 5 or 10 minutes to keep the fingers alive.
    Just a busy time.

I wanted to participate in the Metal Minute, but got stuck on the part in which I was supposed to write which specific lesson helped me play what I play in the video, since most of the stuff that I wanted to upload are covers, and I’m mainly learning theory in the school. So I basically couldn’t mention any lesson :/

Yosi- what I intentionally meant was if someone else were to have issues learning your Metal Minute submission, what lesson on the school could they refer to to help them if they needed it?
Example: I did not actually USE lesson 78 on economy picking to help me learn Hail to the King. But I would reference it in my video because if someone else wanted to learn it, they’d have a lesson reference ready to help equip them for the challenge.
I apologize if I wasn’t clear. So far right now if you were to upload 5 videos I think you’d win. No one’s really doing it much and you can upload them all in one day if you’d like
