Note from M. from a7x

Ive said this before but i would really like avenged to drop their tuning by a half step so it makes them easier to sing, and so shadows doesnt push his voice to the limit as we have seen lately, and ive listened to some songs lower and they sound pretty badass on my opinion
here are some examples if you dont believe me:

People are way too goddam hard on this guy. I hear the live stream and I think he sounds fucken amazing. With the change of altitude’s, stress from traveling, and air pressure, and even temperature and humidity can all affect the singer’s voice. Shadows doesn’t have to apologize for a damn thing.

yeah they have been touring endlessly and that has taken a toll on matt voice, i also heard the live stream and noticed him struggling in bat country and the stage, but he absolutely killed it in shepherd of fire, and i think its a great thing that shadows is reaching out to the fans addressing the whole thing. i really like that there is alot of communication between a7x and the fans

I love how conscious Matt is with his voice and also love his singing voice. He sounded a bit wobbly at Rock on the range but every live video I’ve seen after that he sounds great again so I’m not really that worried. That gaea is affecting you can’t really be true. Listen to Ronnie James Dio in the last couple songs he did and listen to Bruce Dickinson now they both sound awesome still. I think as long as Matt feels like he can sing everything comfortably he won’t drop a halve step down.

I was at Welcome to Rockville and on stage, in between songs he apologized a few times about his voice…I thought he sounded killer!! So what if it wasn’t album perfect 100% of the time…not many people are in a live setting..it’s good ol rock n roll!

I saw them at Rock im Park and I really loved his performance and I say this as someone who didn’t really like his voice in the beginning. I had to get used to it and there are still passages on the records that are just not my style but that’s fine.
But live he really got me! Maybe his voice isn’t that powerful at the moment but I had no “bad feelings” about it. I think I actually liked him live better than on record Though I might have been a bit to distracted by all the crowd surfers!
I have to add, the mixing was excellent! Really awesome sound even in the 3rd row.
