Hello, I’m gonna drop a first video of some stuff I’ve been trying. I’m a beginner !! So there’s a lot I’m not doing good. My fingerpicking for example… And now I have the courage to post a video.
I wanted it to post it in the riff section but it didn’t work?? I’m not that good with computers .

Hmm. Okay, so I went to Vimeo to see what’s what. Opened a random video, clicked the paper airplane in the upper right corner of the video for “sharing,” and then clicked the link in the “Link” box. It highlighted the whole thing. Then I hit CTRL-C to copy, and came here, and I will hit CTRL-V below to paste and see what happens:

Link shows pasted, let’s see if it shows up in the final post…

You’re well on your way! I find that with beginners, especially when it comes to melody, I need to be told what they’re playing, because it’s just so mangled I can’t recognize it. I *totally* got this one right away. You’re showing good command of timing. When your fingers catch up, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with! Keep working on it! This is awesome.
And thanks for persevering with getting it posted! I sincerely appreciate your sharing!

Kim this is really good! Normally when beginners start out, they have a tendency to lift up certain fingers when they really shouldn’t. They are called anchor fingers or guide fingers. You have a really good natural grasp of leaving fingers down when they should be to help your transitions become smoother. I agree with Ed as well. This was very clear and well done! Keep practicing it! I look forward to your improvements! My only suggestion would be about your right hand. When you anchor your Pinky down of your strumming hand, a lot of people do it to help them feel in place. However if you feel like finger picking might be something you’re really into, it’s definitely going to inhibit your abilities in the future. There are a lot of techniques to be done with finger picking style that you simply can’t do if you anchor your pinky down like that. So for now it’s probably not that big of a deal, but just think about what you might want to obtain in the future and see if whether or not you absolutely need to hold your pinky down. Obviously $yn is an extremely adept guitarist and he holds his pinky down. But if finger picking a something you really want to do it might be best to kick the habit at an early stage

Pretty nice! Try to get a bit more comfortable with where your fingers are supposed to go and you will sound great! Like Ed said you have you timing pretty solid and I instantly recognized the melody(which isn’t always the case)
