Good choice for a first pedal, I have one too but really don't use it enough.
I should pick that as my favourite but I'm going for overdrive, even though I don't really use pedals.

My Sinister by Foxgear. That's a mean sounding distortion, with really high gain, and the knobs have a great influence on the overall tone, you can really shape it how you want it to be.
