Hi there fellow Synners!

Now that I took my laptop and really dived in to the settings of my Katana I came up with a great sound, BUT I can't use any volume because my pickups starts to squeal as soon as I stop playing.. Anything I can do besides maybe buying new pickups? BTW. My gain is just below the middle and I have a bit of booster on..

Took a video so you can hear how bad it really is.

Totally normal. It's microphonic feedback, caused by the sound coming from the amp making the strings vibrate. Try it again, but either use your palm to mute all the strings, or turn your volume down, or move farther away from the amp.

The first two, you should get used to doing religiously, because that's using gain or distortion at volume and proximity.

What Katana do you have? You know all that feature a software have a built in noise gate. You basicly need it as soon as you work with high gain settings / booster. You find it under the "NS" tab in the program.

Thanks for the fast answers! 🙂 Never had this bad of a squeal before even with high gain but havent used the booster yet..

Dominik, I tried to look for it yesterday but couldn't find it. I guess I need to Look again. Thanks.
Yeah I didn't find it immediatly either. Just look around in the software, should not be too hard to find.

I would still STRONGLY advise you (and ANYONE) to get used to swiping the volume pot off and/or palm muting all the strings. Not every amp has a built in noise gate. This is a mandatory brain-train automatic response for any guitarist who uses gain and plays loud.

True, having that squeal is actually a pretty good way to get precise with your playing. But honestly the Katana tends to do that so fast that the noise gate function is a must.

Yes i second this! My amp doesnt have a noise gate and i play loud and with a moderate amount of gain. It becomes second nature after a while
