I have always found difficult to play with a metronome. I have no idea the certain bpm of a music (because a quarter in 180bpm can be an eighth in 90bpm) and I always lose track of the beat after a minute. What did you guys did to learn how to play with a metronome?
Hey Zé,
Set your metronome so 1 is always accented. Most metronome apps allow you to set it to quarter notes, eighth notes, etc. So at any tempo or time signature, you should always know where 1 is.
I agree with Papa Gates. Set it so you an put an accent on the “one” and try to place an emphasis on that beat when practicing. Start with quarter notes then work on subdividing down to eights, triplets, sixteenths, etc
