So as you guys know I became a big fan of John Mayer and he is in fact a big reason I started growing interest in blues. I love his guitarwork and solos, especially live. Thing is, besides him I don't know any good blues songs or artists I like. So I thought maybe you could recommend some music or specific songs I might like.
I do like "Layla" or "My Fathers Eyes" by Eric Clapton, I know he and SRV are big influences on Mayers playing, but whenever I go to listen to a random song by them it's something I don't quite enjoy that much and stop listening.

Blues? What the heck is the blues? Why would Chad Kroeger want to jam to blues anyway? Wouldn't you rather come up with some crushing, brutal metal riffs. Nickelback Metal? And who the heck is John Mayer? Ryan Peake's guitar tech?
This is getting old. John Mayer actually taught me how to write death metal riffs. He just doesnt show it.

There are a few songs I've recommended at least a couple times before on this forum, but I guess I'll be repetitive and recommend them in this thread as well.

    Gary Moore- Separate Ways
Gary Moore- Empty Rooms (live in Stockholm is best)
Gary Moore with Albert King- Oh Pretty Woman (very much rock-blues)
Albert King- I'll Play the Blues for You
Alvin Lee with George Harrison- The Bluest Blues

And you might get some big enjoyment from watching the entire SRV with Albert King blues session on youtube.
