Good afternoon, my fellow Synners! And ’tis the month of Halloween, Samhain, All Saints’ Eve, All Hallows’ Eve (etc) so make sure you’re being extra Synful. Whatever that means. For me, it’s allowing myself that extra piece of chocolate and sleeping in on Saturdays. I know, I’m so vulgar and rebellious, aren’t I?
Anyways,
I’ve been promising videos for the beginners such as “Songs You Can Play With The Campfire Chords” and also, “Beginner Song Solos” so you can feel proud of an accomplishment that you may otherwise feel like isn’t that big of a deal. But it really is! There are literally THOUSANDS of songs (and hundreds of them BIG hits!) That were written with these simple chords, and solos as well that you can play with these basic scales you’ll learn in the beginner’s section. That way you can take your guitar and immediately swoon that guy or girl you have your heart set on (Valentine’s Day is just in four months!) or even impress your friends by that awesome solo you tore into! As beginners, we can feel um, mediocre. And that’s totally not the case. And I want to show you just how superb you really can be with just a few scale patterns and chords.
But I also want to address the issue of “I learned this lesson but I don’t know how to apply it”. I still keep receiving messages about it and I HOPE it helps. I’ve been developing exercises and repertoires for nearly each lesson so you can truly walk away with it knowing you milked it for all it’s worth. All the improvement you’ve seen in my playing was all thanks to lesson 24 (and the advice from you all!) and how I literally ROBBED Papa Gates of all he teaches in that. I mean, I spent nearly half a year on that lesson. There’s SO MUCH to take from it. I’ll also teach you how you can “find your own scale patterns” by utilizing the scale formulas such as the major scale’s formula of “whole whole half, whole whole whole half”. That way, you won’t have to panic about learning all these crazy mode names or their positions per se. Instead you can see how the scale actually FUNCTIONS across the neck and learn where the notes are.
I hope this helps!!
Stay wicked, everyone
